Objective
The goal of the BEYOND Dinner at Media City was to celebrate the regions leading creative thinkers and innovators in the wake of the iconic BEYOND conference. The event aimed to highlight Media City’s evolution—honouring its rich industrial past, showcasing its present role as a hub for creativity and innovation, and envisioning its future as a leading destination for the creative industries. By combining cutting-edge storytelling, sensory experiences, and exceptional hospitality, the dining experience sought to cement Media City’s place as a vibrant epicentre for the UK’s creative sector.

Solution
To take guests on an immersive journey through Media City’s evolution, we utilised a multi-sensory approach. A curated soundscape by DJ Mixtress and visuals by Paul Miller captured Salford’s industrial heritage and Media City’s dynamic present. The narrative was driven by AI-powered likenesses of Mark Radcliff and Nihal Arthanayake, who guided the audience through the story of Salford and Media City over the course of the dinner. Culinary experiences were elevated by The Alchemist, who created a pop up apothecary of creative, bespoke cocktails with a local Salford Rum. The event delivered a seamless fusion of storytelling, technology, and fine dining to captivate and inspire its forward-thinking audience.
Challenges
We had a 4 week lead time and our primary challenge was ensuring that where possible all creative collaborators were based locally in Salford. We ensured every detail resonated with the overarching theme and linked back to the area. Crafting an event that could effectively blend the past, present, and future narratives of Media City into a cohesive experience for an audience of VIPS at such short notice required meticulous planning.
REsults
The BEYOND Dinner was an undeniable success, garnering praise from attendees for its innovative storytelling of the history of Media City and memorable sensory experiences. The soundscape, visuals, and AI-driven narrative engaged guests in Media City’s story, while The Alchemist’s creative offerings elevated the evening into a celebration of innovation. Attendees left with a deeper appreciation for Salford’s evolution and Media City’s role as a future-forward creative destination.
